Question Description
This activity will help you put into practice some of the skills discussed in Chapters 14 and 15. You will look at an article (a kind of informational report) and analyze how the author presents their message.
Find a long article in a business magazine (print or online). Read the article and note how it uses headings, links, transitions, previews, and reviews to help readers navigate the content. Are there visuals? (pictures or data visualizations, graphs, charts, etc.) Are the visual elements effective? What might you change or improve about the overall presentation of the report? (Don’t say “nothing”!).
Magazine suggestions (all online–you may find others):
Forbes
Wired
Fortune
Inc.
Entrepreneur
AdWeek
Bloomberg Businessweek (paywall limits numbers of articles–you can access through the library website)
The Economist (behind paywall–you can access through the library website)
Your response should be about 200-250 words. Include a link to the article.
