Question Description
1. Suppose the signals with which you are working come from measurements of vibrations in the ground. Collaborators far from your measuring site are setting off small, buried explosions, whose vibrational effects propagate through the ground to your measuring equipment. Mention contributors to the noise in your measurement situation, and explain why these provide noise. Speculate whether, and if so how, such noise could be removed from the measurements.
3. The textbook states “imagine the conversion being done with 12 bits at a sampling rate of one kilohertz. The voltage is curtailed to 4096 possible binary levels, and the time is only defined at one millisecond increments.” Explain why sampling at 1kHz with a 12 bit A/D converter has these two effects.
